[Announcement]: Indefinite Hiatus

Dengeki.jpg

Hey folks! It’s been a while since i’ve had to take a break but now, unfortunately, it’s time for the longest one yet.

At the end of last year I finally finished University and started working in a hospital, and the truth is that since that time (barring developer request) I haven’t actually written anything new. In the past few month i’ve blazed through my backlog and now have nothing worthwhile to post. Between the time I spend at work and other projects/hobbies i’ve decided to pursue, i’ve misplaced the spark that initially led to me creating The Geek Clinic.

So, while it’s been a fantastic nearly four years, The Geek Clinic is on indefinite hiatus from today. I don’t yet know whether i’ll get back into regular reviewing or perhaps using the blog for some other purpose. In the meantime, however, i’d like to thank the fantastic people who’ve taken the time over the years to read and comment on the blog; i’ve made several new friends in the process and i’ve loved every moment of it.

I’m not dead, however. I still receive notifications of comments and intend to reply to them, and I plan to keep my recommendation lists up to date, so don’t be a stranger!

I wish you a very successful future in the medical world and I’ll see you around. Godspeed good sir.

You’ve kept up a more consistent -blog- for four years than I (and many people) ever will, hopefully your career takes off in success. Meanwhile I too have to think about finding a job as I am graduating in a year but have shown no signs of cutting time from my hobbies as i slog through my final year rip

Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot =)

Good luck for the rest of your studies and job search! Work is a pain, it takes you away from all the important things in life XD

I’ve gone through multiple reactions to this announcement:
Sad: “But what am I going to do with my life without regular posts from the geek clinic?”
Anger: “Fine then, go ahead, we didn’t need you anyway!”
Sarcastic: “Oh no, what a surprise. It’s not like everyone didn’t see this coming.”
Maniacal: “You’ll be back, they all come crawling back in the end! Bwhahahaha!”
Hopeful: “I await your first story with endless anticipation.”
and finally the honest reaction: “Huh… considering we email regularly… I’ll be getting your thoughts on media anyway, so… too bad for your other followers… I guess?”

This post comes at a strange time as I too have lost quite a lot of passion in blogging, only managed to write something new once in a blue moon. Nonetheless, been pretty fun talking with you on our favorite anime and visual novels and the likes and guess I’ll see you soon. Good luck with your career and life.

You were initially my inspiration for starting blogging, so in a way the past few years with The Geek Clinic were made possible by you, and I am hugely thankful to you for giving me that very first spark.

I wish you all the best with your ongoing blogging on Deluscar and hope life treats you well!

I dont even know what to write here..

Between anger and sorrow. all I can say sums to the below:
i/ I hope you ll be able to keep up with the blog. Yes we all get our careers but still, you got some very good opinions listed here.
ii/ Q_Q, so many of the good ones missing here!!!

Never posted before as I usually just play stuff (even using ITH) before bothering to read their reviews, but your blog will be kinda missed, we need more people to advertise how great some VNs can be, evoccing feelings that your average “witcher 3.5” could never, so that we get more of em brought over here, without the use of crappy trsl interfaces đŸ™‚

Wish ya the best fellow VN-er /salute!
((Life’s always better in 2D etc))

Thanks for the comment! I always love receiving feedback and i’m glad you’ve enjoyed the blog.

I think that if I do start writing again it’s likely to be with a visual novel focus and with less structure to how often I post, but we’ll see what comes with the future (i’ve just finished a 12 hour weekend shift while I write this, so I can’t make any promises XD).

Out of interest, what are some of the VNs you think deserve to be covered? I don’t have many on my list right now and could always use some recommendations myself! Or maybe i’ve already read them but haven’t formally covered them yet.

      All the best!

Will you come back someday? I really enjoy your vn reviews and would be happy to see you active again, but anyway, I hope you are doing well.

    • Silvachief says:

Hi Pedro, thanks a heap for your comment! All is well here, but busy shift schedules mean that a return is not going to happen any time soon unfortunately >.< Darned work…always getting in the way of life's most important features!
